Much better for my lower back.....April 21, 2010 Brian Nallick(Mpls, MN) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I had another stepper "The Foldaway Lateral Stepper" that I also reviewed on Amazon.
I gave that one star as it seriously hurt my lower back and left knee.
If you're looking for a stepper that won't bankrupt you than I say go with this one instead.
It was a breeze to put together.
It has a very natural movement.
I'm pretty sore (in a good way this time) from using it.
I'm soaking wet within ten minutes on this thing and it doesn't cost that much.
So why four stars?
I'm knocking one star off due to the fact that it is a little too narrow for my tastes.
I would have liked a wider stance, it almost feels like I'm stepping with my feet right together even though they're not.
I'm also only 5'8 so my height is not an issue either.
That minor complaint aside, I can see myself using this along side "The Wave" consistently.
I have read other reviews that have said the shocks wear out way too fast.
I will update the review if that happens but I have only had this for a week and I love it so far.
Recommended.
Review update.............05-27-10
My machine after only one month has developed a very loud clunking noise when I step.
Rendering this machine almost unusable.
Also, both shocks are squeaking and appear to be losing pressure very quickly.
Pile of crap, I'd return it but it's not worth the hassle.
I've only been using it 20 minutes a day for four days a week.
This is INEXCUSABLE.
AAAAAAAAAAAVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Further update....after one month this machine went into the dumpster. I found where the clunking noise was coming from.
The bar in the middle of the upper part of the machine where the logo is was wobbling up and down with each step.
I unscrewed both shocks and stuffed a tiny amount of washrag into the gaping hole hoping that would stop the bar from moving.
It did, till I tried to reattact the shocks and one of the screws broke right off in the machine bar.
There was ZERO way to even fix this.
I tossed it, what a nightmare and a WASTE OF MY MONEY.
I said it before, I'll say it again...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVOID!!!!!!!!
Cheaply made productApril 6, 2010 bob(usa) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchaed this stepper and shortly after the the shocks broke. I have contacted Stamina products a couple times for replacement parts and they don't stock then and said sorry and it would be months before they can do anything. I would not buy from Stamina products again.
Shocks have worn out twiceMarch 30, 2010 Sarah Ramsay 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
In general the stepper is good as long as you don't care about the shocks breaking every six months! I have had to replace mine twice. The first time they sent the wrong shocks, then the ones that they sent me were already worn out. The second time they once again sent me the wrong shocks and then I had to wait a month for replacements from China. I only weigh 100 pounds so weight has nothing to do with it. The simple fact is that the shocks are low quality. If they made better quality shocks then the product would be satisfactory. If you are not going to use it much, then go for it. I use it every day but I was hoping it would last longer than six months before I had to replace the shocks!
Sturdy MachineMarch 24, 2010 House123 The Stamina Space Mate Folding Stepper is a well made machine. I have read some reviews commenting they thought this machine is flimsy.
I disagree; it is well built with a sturdy steel frame. I have used this machine over the past two months 20 to 30 mins a day 5 days a week. This machine is built to last.
It gives me the same work out as those health club machines.
For those of you looking for at great cardio work out at a great price. The Stamina Space Mate Folding Stepper is the machine for you.
Harder than the gym stepperMarch 12, 2010 "amazon princess"(Seattle WA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like to work out but this one is tough on me. I agree it will take me working out for just 5 minutes, than a little more until I am used to this. It is a hard work out. It has made me appreciate the gym machine more. I really should store it under the bed.
